The Old Irving Park Association (OIPA) is a non-profit, all volunteer community group active on Chicago's northwest side since 1983. Our members, ranging from young families to longtime residents, work together on many projects which impact our mutual quality of life. These range from painting murals under viaducts and creating street banners to traffic and zoning issues and working with housing developers and area businesses. Social activities include an annual Holiday Potluck, Spring Egg Hunt, June Ice Cream Social and special childrens' events. OIPA serves as a link between the residents of Old Irving Park and all of our elected officials. The group is a federally registered 501(c)3 organization.

Our members - 700 households within a one square mile area - attend meetings at 7 PM on the 2nd Monday of each month, September through June, at Irving Park Baptist Church, 4401 W. Irving Park. OIPA also publishes a 60+ page monthly newsletter which is included in the $15 annual membership ($10 for seniors).

ANNUAL ICE CREAM SOCIAL ON JUNE 8, 6:30 PM

Kick off the summer with everyone's favorite OIPA event: The Ice Cream Social! This year's event will take place on Monday June 8th, 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the Irving Park Baptist Church at the corner of Irving Park Road and Kostner Avenue (across from Starbucks).

We will be serving ice cream novelties along with a create-your-own sundae station. The event is free to current OIPA members and $1.00 per each non-member. Everyone is invited, so stroll over to the Ice Cream Social for some dessert and social time with the neighbors!

Volunteers are needed for set-up, serving, and clean-up. Please contact Renee Linnemeyer if you would like to help renegirard@aol.com.

Old Irving Park neighborhood boundaries are those of the original two farms developed here in the 1870's: Addison on the south, Montrose on the north, Pulaski on the east and the Milwaukee Road railroad on the west (approximately Kilbourn/Kolmar). This historic and architecturally diverse area is conveniently located to two Metra stops, the CTA's Blue Line subway to downtown and O'Hare airport, and the junction of the Kennedy and Edens (90/94) expressways.

In addition to neighborhood history and more about OIPA, our website includes information about local businesses and institutions, which we encourage you to patronize. The community map has a special feature which allows you to pinpoint business locations by category, making it easy, for example, to find all local hair salons or restaurants. We'd like to thank the Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for its support of this project.

Welcome! The Board of Directors of the Old Irving Park Association.
